LEAF - LIVERPOOLFebruary 21, 2015
Located in the heart of Liverpool on Bold Street is LEAF, arguably the cities best up of tea. What makes this venue so unique is that it's an independent teashop and bar rolled into one. I feel as though there are not enough places like LEAF in the UK outside of London - somewhere that you can enjoy the age old British tradition of a nice cup of tea and some good conversation in a relaxed atmosphere when it's late. LEAF has become my usual haunt whenever I'm in the city; it's a place where I've spent many-a-tea-and-cake filled evening.
LEAF's ethos "Where there's tea there's hope"
What I love about LEAF is that it's such a versatile place to simply hang out; be it day or night. Its quirky and open plan interior help to create a unique atmosphere and happening vibe making it a social hub, particularly for young people in the city.
If you're a tea lover (which is probably most of you seeing as we are a nation of tea drinkers) you will be like a kid in a candy store when it comes to LEAF's selection of lose tea leaves. I usually like to try a new flavor every time I visit. Some of our favourite LEAF teas include gunpowder tea, Lapsang tea, Earl Grey pearl tea and the butter truffle tea.
They will also give you a refill if you ask them nicely! Of course it doesn't just stop at tea, LEAF is also a bar so you can grab something a little stronger if you fancy.
Rekorderlig Winter cider, served warm. It's a delight, definitely try this!
What's more, LEAF sell their own tea so you can take your favourite tea home with you to enjoy any time you desire. Their teas can also be brought online too.
Upstairs is pretty jazzy too with all its disco balls. LEAF is almost as passionate about music as it is tea so there is very often live music gigs held upstairs.
My sister and her fiance.
After a tea and cake filled night it's always a good idea to walk some of it off - which is exactly what we did. We ended up taking a few snaps outside of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral - a very unique looking building which is simply stunning at night when it's lit up.
Of course I couldn't resist bringing home some of my favourite tea blend by LEAF - the butter truffle tea. It smells and tastes absolutely divine.
The butter truffle tea is an infusion of black tea, almond, cardamon and it even has tiny little floating Italian biscuits in it!
The tea comes loose so you can either use a teapot and strainer or a teaball infuser like me.
You simply fill it up and drop it into a mug of hot water to steep for 2-3 minutes and add milk if desired - I always have my tea milky.
..and simply enjoy!
