Singapore's ultra futuristic 'Supertrees' are one of the main focal points of its Gardens by the Bay.   The grove of enormous Supertrees vary between 25-50 meters in height and look a like something taken straight out of Avatar.  They represent a juxtaposition between artificial and organic - each of the giant man-made structures are covered with a living skin of plants, utilising the 'vertical garden' concept.  That's not to mention the fact that they also incorporate environmentally sustainable functions like solar energy cells.  They are the stuff of the future!

At nighttime the trees come alive with a display of light and music known as the Garden Rhapsody which takes place most nights.  The captivating display sees them transition between a spectrum of different colours.  The cutting edge surround sound consists of 48 different audio speakers to simulate the sort of audio quality that you would get from live musicians.

It's possible to experience the Supertrees from another perspective on the OCBC Skyway, a 22 meter high bridge which spans between two of the Supertrees.  Although admission to the supertrees is free, tickets for the Skyway are around $5 and can be brought at the Ticketing Hub.

At the top of the tallest Supertree (which sits in the middle of the grove) is a restaurant by IndoChine, aptly named Super Tree.  You can dine at altitude amongst the colourful canopy which is sure to be an unforgettable experience - one for the bucketlist!

For unparallelled views of the Supertree grove from above then head to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which is situated nearby and overlooks it.  If you happen to be staying in the city for a couple of days I would suggest watching the display at least once at ground level and once from the Sands SkyPark and it's a great excuse to get some cocktails in.

Singapore's Supertrees are exceedingly modern, tasteful and utterly unique - rightly they are one of its most celebrated attractions.  Besides Kuala Lumpur's Digital Orchard there's nothing really like it anywhere else, so experiencing the Supertrees is an absolute must when visiting Singapore.  They are nothing short of spectacular.
