CORNWALL IN BLOOM

Daffodils in Cornwall - The Wayfarer

Spring has finally arrived and so have the daffodils!  Cornwall is one of the UK's main daffodil producers; it truly comes into bloom in this time of the year, with barren muddy fields that transform into seas of yellow daffodils.  If you drive though some of the winding country roads in the more rural areas of Cornwall you are guaranteed to get a glimpse of the fields of yellow which come as a welcome indicator that warmer weather is on its way.  To an extent, daffodils are to Cornwall what tulips are to Holland - it has a huge industry for producing them, with half distributed and sold across the UK and the other half exported across the globe bringing some sunshine into the homes of people all around the world.

Just a heads up, if you fancy frolicking in the fields of flowers, be prepared to get mud on your car and shoes!  Although this comes with the territory in many of the more rural parts of Cornwall.
